The Organization: Located on a picturesque farm in Awendaw, SC, just north of Mt. Pleasant, the Rein & Shine program serves people with Autism, Downs Syndrome, MS, and more. For individuals with special needs, equine therapy has many physical benefits including improved muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, and motor development. The students benefit emotionally from the program through increased confidence, and the joy and freedom associated with riding and bonding with the horses.
The Mission: To create and sustain an equine facilitated therapy facility where people with disabilities of all kinds can learn, grow and heal.
The Event: The annual Barn Raiser was developed to promote awareness of Rein and Shine in the community and to raise funds to support this critical equine therapy organization in the Charleston community. The 2010 Barn Raiser will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010, rain or shine, at the Rein & Shine Big Red Barn in Awendaw, SC. The event will include a Barbeque dinner, fantastic live music, thanks to our friends at Awendaw Green, a silent auction, and events for children.
